The month of May has so many great activities to look forward to; the end of school, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and springtime in Colorado. We also celebrate Music Heritage Sunday, which falls this year on May 21. We will have a single service at 10:30 a.m. so that the entire congregation can get together and worship.
The Mountain View music ensembles have been hard at work preparing our musical worship service for this year, which is built around the word “prayer.” Because we are blessed to have a diversity of musical styles here at Mountain View, it will be nice to hear about prayer using those different styles.
We are fortunate this year to be bringing in a small chamber orchestra and present “Missa Festiva” by American composer John Leavitt. As you will hear in this piece, Mr. Leavitt has composed a piece based upon the Latin Mass, but is presenting it in a fresh, contemporary way. We hope you will enjoy the lively rhythms, the beautiful harmonies, and the overall energy of the piece.
We also will feature music by our praise band, Head for Home, our great youth choir, Spirit Singers, and our handbell choir, Wesley Ringers. We also will give the congregation a chance to sing some favorite hymns of the church.
Following the service, we will have a great Fried Chicken Luncheon put together by our Radical Hospitality committee. This will be a great opportunity to meet up with members of the congregation that attend other worship services than yours. You won’t want to miss this luncheon.
