Sermon: “A New Way of Legacy” by Pastor Sarah Merchant
Scripture: Luke 24: 44-53
Theme: Ascension Sunday- Jesus opens the scriptures to the disciples as they gather together. He reveals the stories and prophecies of old must be fulfilled. How? By being witnesses to the past and living for a legacy of the future. See, Moses didn’t get to see the promised land; the prophets were ignored; and the psalms were often personal songs. But Jesus is saying that these words and happenings shape how we move forward because Jesus has called them forth to be completed, redeemed and found whole. We can see this in the legacies left by those who have gone before us and find thanksgiving and joy for the call to be the witnesses of great things.
