DESCRIPTION:Inclusivity Committee Presentation: Civil Discourse in a Polarized Society \nSunday\, April 10\, 9:30 am\, Frasier Parlor \nHard lines are drawn. A simple statement turns into a manifesto. Facts get lost. Chasms divide us into different and detached worlds. We talk not to each other across the divides but only to ourselves within our separate silos. \nHave we lost the art of listening? Is conversation possible? Are fellowship\, friendship and collegiality suffering? Is the civil discourse vital to democracy at risk? \nProf. Lisa Sprain addresses these questions on April 10 between the Sunday morning services during the Koinonia hour in Frasier Parlor. Her topic: Civil Discourse in a Polarized Society.  Q and A will follow her presentation. Prof. Sprain Is in the College of Media\, Communication and Information at the University of Colorado. Her research focuses on democratic engagement\, studying how specific communication practices facilitate and inhibit democratic action. She is the co-director of the Center for Communication and Democratic Engagement. What better qualifications to lead this discussion. \nThe Inclusivity Committee invites you to join us.
