DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 7\, during 9:30 Koinonia Hour in Fraser Parlor \n14\,542 gun murders and 28\,854 gun suicides in 2017 in the U.S. In Colorado three quarters of gun fatalities are suicides. In Boulder we have our own mass shooting at King Soopers. How many more friends\, family members and loved ones are devastated at losing those held close in the hearts? Gun violence and the widening circles of pain\, loss and grief are not a public health issue. They are a public health crisis. \nOn November 7 at the Koinonia hour between Colorado Faith Communities United to End Gun Violence (CFCU) will tell us about its public health approach to the epidemic in gun violence. Stephanie Greenberg\, Ph.D.\, a retired research sociologist and co-chair of CFCU\, will provide data on gun violence in Boulder County and Colorado. Larry Dansky will CFCU’s advocacy efforts in the 2021 session of the Colorado legislature. Finally\, Carol Young\, the chair of the gun violence committee at First Congregational church\, will talk about CFCU’s mission\, focus and activities that drive its approach to this crisis. \nAnne Frank tells us: “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Stacy Abrams tells us: “If you see a problem\, your job is to fix it.” At our Koinonia hour we will learn how to fix a problem and improve the world. \nThe Inclusivity Committee invites your attendance and participation.
