January 15, 2017

New January Sunday School Speaker Series
The international UMW has chosen climate justice as one of their focus topics for 2017. We are pleased to offer that focus for our January environmental Sunday school series. Please mark your calendars (when you get the new one) and plan to join us for this series of topics and discussions. We will meet at 9 am . Classroom to be determined. It is our hope to provide a wide variety of ideas and discussion including youtube and TED talks to stimulate ideas.

January 8th:  ENVISIONING HOPE:  Looking forward to our resolutions to become greener.  Story of Stuff and Story of Stuff solutions (YOU tube)  will be spring boards for discussion. The Wesleyan ideal of DO GOOD, DO NO HARM, and STAY IN LOVE WITH GOD will help us focus our ideas.

January 15:  SPEAKER FROM  biocharnow.org. Explore what biochar is and the solution it offers us for carbon sequestering.  Don’t know anything about this?  Come learn with us.

January 22: PERSONAL CHOICES:  Come join us as we explore sustainability and lowering our carbon footprint through our daily lifestyle choices.  We will focus on how what we eat can help heal us and our planet.

January 29:  SPEAKER FROM treeswaterpeople.org.  Come learn about their regional and international projects that help our indigenous peoples as well as support carbon offset projects in our global hemisphere.   This organization offers reforestation, solar heaters, and fuel efficient cook stoves to help improve our planet and the lives of people in need.  Programs include the reforestation project on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation as well as multiple programs that save carbon dioxide release.

PLEASE JOIN US.  Questions?  Contact Cheryl Runyon or Mary Beth Downing.
