DESCRIPTION:Social Justice Committee Presentation on the Criminalization of Women’s Health \nSunday\, January 29\, 9:00 am\, Frasier Parlor \nJoin the Zoom here \nWhen the U.S. Supreme Court in the Dobbs case overturned Roe v. Wade it also revived old laws slumbering on the books in a number of states criminalizing abortion. Women seeking abortion and their health care providers now fear prosecution for various felonies up to and including murder. Even women seeking treatment for miscarriages and other health issues unrelated to abortion are suspect and run the risk of being caught up in criminal investigations and prosecutions. \nColorado is not one of these states. In fact it was the first state to decriminalize abortion. Here abortion and reproductive health care remain safe\, legal and protected. Now our state is one of the end stations on the Underground Railroad for women fleeing states where reproductive health is criminalized. Colorado has become a safe haven and a regional hub for abortion access. \nCobalt is a Colorado non-profit dedicated to protecting access to abortion and providing assistance to these women. At an open forum at 9:00 am in Frasier Parlor on Sunday\, January 29 Cobalt will explain its work\, the women it helps\, the risks\, threats and traumas these women face and the assistance\, support and care it provides.
