DESCRIPTION:Special “Way Forward”Speaker and Luncheon: Sunday\, January 13\nMr. Doug Palmer\, a lay delegate to the special session of the United Methodist General Conference\, will preach at Mountain View UMC on Sunday\, January 13th. As an elected delegate to the General Conference from our Annual Conference\, Mr. Palmer has followed the developments within the denomination leading up to the special session of this decision-making body in February 2019. He is prepared to speak to us about the “Way Forward”\, which is trying to address human sexuality\, same sex Christian marriage\, and LGBTQ+ clergy in our world-wide denomination. Mr. Palmer may help us consider some of the “knock-on” effects such a decision might have on our ministries.\nOn Sunday morning at all three services\, Mr. Palmer will build a case for faithfulness in our decision making\, grounded in scripture and fully aware of how a change in structure reveals what we believe it means to be the Church. After the late service\, our church will host a luncheon (RSVP 303-494-5025) and Q&A session with Mr. Palmer to try and address the 3 proposals being brought to the special session in February. Regardless of your opinion on such matters\, we hope to come together united in our love of God\, for the transformation of the world. Whatever denominational decision is made about our structure\, we choose to remain brothers and sisters in love with God and in service to Jesus Christ.
