Creation Care and Electric Vehicles
by Arthur Howe
One of the goals recently established for our church by the Board is: “We recognize the sacredness of all of God’s creation – the world and all the people in it. Therefore, we will engage in and advocate for creation care.” In recognition that the use of electric vehicles will help reduce global warming, the Green Earth Team proposed to the Board the installation of an electric vehicle charger in the garage of the parsonage. This Board will vote on the topic in the future.
The charging of electric vehicles by homeowners requires a high current circuit to be installed, and Namaste, the solar provider to the Parsonage, is able to provide this as part of an integrated package when they install the solar panels, scheduled for September. When Pastor Stephanie and Kevin take delivery of their electric vehicle, the cost of charging will be about ¼ of the normal cost because of the production of the solar power. We look forward to the potential development of this project!
