February Music Highlights
We have some great things happening in music this February at Mountain View. I hope you will be able to attend some of these activities:
• Sunday, February 10th – Youth Sunday. The youth group will design the worship services, provide the music, and lead our congregation in worship. There will be two services at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. with a breakfast in between. I am excited to not only hear Spirit Singers, but all of the youth, who are selecting all of the worship songs that will be sung that day.
• Sunday, February 17th – Organ Concert. Our resident organist, Susan Carl, will combine with Brian Du Fresne to present a wonderful organ concert at 3 p.m. in our sanctuary. They will present a program featuring music by Bach, Couperin, Wesley, Burkhardt, Hakim, and Ravel. They will play a couple of duets as well as play individually. There will be a reception following the concert where you can meet with the organists. Admission is free, so bring some friends and enjoy some great music.
• Saturday, February 23rd – Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. in our sanctuary. Check their website for ticket prices. This is a very fine chamber orchestra that is quickly becoming a regular on our concert schedule. They will present a concert that features harpsichordist, Jory Vinikour. The following music will be performed on this concert:
Max Wolpert, “Baroque in Mirror” – World Premiere!
Johann Sebastian Bach, Harpsichord Concerto in D minor, BWV 1052
Franz Joseph Haydn, Symphony No. 22, the Philosopher
So make some plans to get out of the house and enjoy some great music!
