Sanctuary Flooring Update
We are all getting so excited to return to in person worship! We don’t know yet when that day will come, but all signs are pointing to soon! Many plans for programming and the building are underway, so we will be ready when that day comes. At the February Board meeting and in a Zoom Presentation to the congregation on March 14, the Sanctuary flooring was discussed. The current carpet is 18-years-old, has ridges that are tripping hazards, and is worn and stained. It is time to replace it.
This is a three-step process:
- An ADA ramp up the chancel will be built, so those with limited mobility can fully participate in worship.
- The chancel hardwood floors will be refinished.
- Luxury vinyl plank flooring will be installed on the main floor.
The former Trustees had identified this as an important project a few years ago, and now as we approach that time to return to the building, it makes sense to put those plans into place. There is a Building Reserve Fund that can cover the estimated cost of the project; however, it would be good if it did not have to be reduced by the whole amount of the project. (approximately $50,000).
If you would like to make a gift to the Sanctuary project, you can do that by sending a check marked Sanctuary or through online giving.
