Welcome Home!

Welcome Home!

Welcome Home!

Have you been traveling this summer? If so, we’re glad you’re back. If not, it’s been great seeing you through the summer!

Either way, Mountain View is indeed our home in many ways. Not only is this church our spiritual home, but also our second family, our community, our connections. With that in mind, I’m hoping you will become very engaged in the life of the church as we move into our Fall schedule.

You know already that we are keeping our 10:00 am service for a while. Being together is a great way to see each other and rekindle connections. And what each of us does when we volunteer and get involved on a Sunday morning is seen and felt throughout the entire congregation. Whether we attend a class, sing in the choir, serve as an acolyte, usher, or greeter, we’re connecting with our entire church family.

Volunteering is one of the best ways I can think of to get to know more people — to make those real connections and relationships that are so vital to our spiritual and emotional growth. Also, it’s just plain fun!

We will have training sessions very soon for ushers, for lay readers, for greeters, and for acolytes. Please check your Sunday bulletin and the Friday email “Ways to Connect” for those dates, and for other opportunities to be a part of the church ministries. Perhaps in the past you may have wondered, “How does anyone get involved?” And maybe you’ve even wondered, “Why can’t I do that?”

Here’s how. For lay readers, ushers, greeters, or acolytes, come to the soon-to-be scheduled training workshops (generally an hour or less!) and you’re in! For the choir, come to a rehearsal on Sunday morning at 9:00am and you’re in! For trying out a class, check out where they are meeting, join them at 9:00am, and you’re in! It can’t be easier than that. All classes, groups, music ensembles, and ministries are always open to all.

And we would love to build our volunteer base in each and every ministry that the church offers. Get involved. We need you. You’ll feel great becoming more and more a part of the life of the church.

This Fall & Beyond in Music

The Sanctuary Choir will be going full speed ahead beginning Sunday, September 11. Choir rehearses in the Choir Room (Room 108) each Sunday morning, as well as monthly on a Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm. The Choir sings in service two or three times each month.

The Handbell Choir (under the caring and excellent direction of Emma Haupt) meets on Sundays after service on the first, third, and fifth Sunday of each month. The Handbell Choir plays in service once or twice each month.

Our Christmas offerings (can I talk about this so soon?) will feature instrumental ensembles accompanying the choir, handbells, organ, solo instruments. It’s going to be a joyous celebration of the season!

I am calling on YOU to be involved in music this semester, and as long as you’d like! Come to a rehearsal, see what it’s all about. As I am known to say, “The door is always open!” All are welcome. I really mean that.

Let’s continue to make Mountain View shine!
