I have already gotten my favorite recordings of Christmas out and have begun listening to them. Here are just a few – A Christmas Album by James Taylor (folk style); Carols from Clare by John Rutter and Clare College Choir (traditional choral); A Swingin’ Christmas by Tony Bennett with the Count Basie Band (big band jazz), Mistletoe and Wine by Mediæval Bæbes (advante garde, medieval), The Beauty of Christmas by London Festival Orchestra and The Ambrosian Singers (traditional and contemporary).
As you can see, I have pretty eclectic taste when it comes to my Christmas music. I like variety and it keeps my Christmas listening interesting. You will see below what opportunities you will have to hear, and take part in singing, some great Christmas music here at Mountain View in December. I have tried to carry over my love of variety in the music that you will hear this Advent and Christmas season. We will have the praise style of Head for Home, a piece for speech choir by Spirit Singers, a version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen with a vocal jazz feel, and the traditional carols that you all have loved over the years.
Please bring some friends and join us for our wonderful Mountain View December. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas.
