Inclusivity Committee Presentation on Alzheimers and other Dementias
Sunday, December 6 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Zoom
The Inclusivity Team offer the last in its monthly Open Forums for 2020 on our neighbors living at the margins of our community. The topic on December 6 is seniors with Alzheimers and other Dementias. We will also be looking at how we can minister to their families and caregivers. Our presenter for this time together will be Elisa Bosley.
Elisa is a licensed nondenominational Christian chaplain with a particular ministry to older adults with dementia. She has lived in Boulder since 1997 and currently attends Grace Commons Church.
Elisa has more than 35 years of ministry experience in both church and parachurch settings. After a long career as a magazine editor, she began ministering to elders with dementia in 2014. At that time, she found almost no resources specific to the spiritual needs of people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, so she created them herself. In 2016, she launched SpiritualEldercare.com as a platform to freely distribute her original, dementia-friendly worship service agendas, Bible studies, and sing-along classic hymns. Her deep desire is to make it easy for anyone to provide this much-needed care to elders, especially those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, whose spirits remain very much alive.
In March 2020, in response to COVID-19 lockdowns, Elisa quickly pivoted to creating video versions of her church services, which she continues to post weekly on YouTube. To her surprise, these videos now reach eldercare communities around the nation and world.
Please plan to join us in this zoom meeting. Following the presentation there will be a time for questions. See you December 6!
