Welcome to the New Music Staff!
I am so pleased and proud to welcome Luke Musgrave and Emma Haupt to Mountain View!
Luke has been with us just over a month as our Piano Accompanist. Coming from the Chicago area, you’ve seen him lead music from the piano for services already, and with a beautiful tenor voice, he has sung in the choir as well. A few weeks ago you heard him play the prelude on the organ, and as a self-proclaimed beginning ringer, Luke has jumped in to play with the bell choir and is happy to do so! This kind of dedication and willingness to go above and beyond for the benefit of the congregation is a blessing to the church!
Emma just recently joined the music staff as our Bell Choir Director. She has years of experience as a ringer, director of bell choirs, and as music director at a church in Buffalo NY. You will soon have the opportunity to see her directing our bell choir, and perhaps doing some solos and small groups as well. Having studied at St. Olaf, she brings a wealth of knowledge to Mountain View. She has great ideas for involving young people in our ensembles. Emma is also an organist and I can’t wait to find opportunities for her to play for you soon!
On a volunteer basis, Belinda Strickland has been leading our young children in a ministry called Joyful Noise. I hope you had the opportunity to see and hear them at the September 19 10:45 service. It was a JOY! An accomplished flautist, Belinda will be leading the children in song for us on the third Sunday of the month. All kids are welcome! Joyful Noise meets at 10am in Barker Hall on Sunday morning.
In our congregation we have so many outstanding musicians. If you would like to be a part of upcoming music opportunities, I hope you will be in contact with me at worship@mtview.org.
This is indeed an exciting time for the music department!
