Brian du Fresne

Director of Music & Worship Arts / Principal Organist

Brian joined the staff at Mountain View United Methodist Church in 2020. It is a wonderful opportunity to serve this vibrant church! He is looking forward to years of growth in excellence in music making, and to building the music ensembles at the church. Building community involvement in the music programs, as well as participation by the congregation in multiple arts and music offerings are high on the list of priorities!

Brian grew up in Europe and his first organist job was when he was fourteen at a small church west of London. He has two masters degrees in music, and taught in Boulder Valley for seventeen years. Brian has worked with many professional music organizations in Colorado, and was most recently guest soloist for the opening concert of the Longmont Symphony Orchestra. He served as the Principal Organist at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boulder for twenty years, and has sung with the internationally acclaimed Ars Nova Singers since 1994.

When not playing music, Brian is a Sports and Neuromuscular Massage Therapist, and his busy practice includes work with elite athletes as well as professional instrumentalists and singers. He teaches Massage Therapy at the Colorado School of Healing Arts.

Brian and his partner (now husband) of thirty-four years, Fred Jewell – a prolific composer and teacher of public school orchestra – live in Thornton with their two crazy cats and Bullet, their sleek rescue greyhound.
